Resolution 08607CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8607 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN RECOGNITION AND COMMENDATION OF JIM BARRY WHEREAS, JIM BARRY, a life-long resident of Alameda, has set a new record for swimming around the island of Alameda, which has been certified by the A, A. U. and WHEREAS, Jim Barry has been an outstanding student and athlete in Alameda schools; and WHEREAS, as an Alamedan, he became an All American in three events when competing in college in the N. C. A. A.; and WHEREAS, he has brought honor and recognition to the City of Alameda by having set a new record for swimming around our island in five hours and forty-eight minutes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Alameda extends its appreciation to Jim Barry who, by demonstrating h15 integrity and superb determination to reach his goal, has set an example for the youth and all swimming enthursiasts in our city. * * * * * * * * * * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in an adjourned regular meeting assembled on the 26th day of October, 1976, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (5).
