AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 7679 AND THE ALAMEDA CIVIL DEFENSE
OPERATIONS PLAN BY ESTABLISHING THLPOSITION OF EMERGENCY
SERVICES COORDINATOR AND DESIGNATING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO
SERVE IN THAT CAPACITY
WHEREAS, the City Council on October 6, 1970, adopted Resolution No. 7679, which adopted
the Alameda Civil Defense Operations Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Civil Defense Operations Plan provides for emergency services assign-
ments among City officials and City staff in the event of disasters; and
WHEREAS, said Civil Defense Operations Plan and, in particular, emergency service
assignments may be modified and amended by resolution pursuant to Resolution No. 7679; and
HWHEREAS, a requirement for applying federal civil defense funding for the construction
of the Emergency Operations Center portion of the proposed new Police Headquarters Building is
that the EOC space must be used on a day-to-day basis by the civil defense agency and a represen-
tative of one other emergency service department having an emergency function and assignment in
the EOD; and
WHEREAS, to meet this requirement it is necessary to establish the position of
Emergency Services Coordinator.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Resolution No. 7679 and the Alameda Civil Defense
Operations Plan is hereby amended by establishing the position of Emergency Services Coordinator
and designating the Chief of Police to serve in that capacity.
