CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8638
CONFIRMING CANVASS BY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS OF ALAMEDA COUNTY OF
STATE GENERAL ELECTION HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1976
WHEREAS, the Registrar of Voters of the County of Almeda did duly canvass the votes cast
in the City of Alameda, County of Alameda, State of California, at the Special Municipal Charter
Amendment Election consolidated with the State of California General Election held on November 2,
1976, in said City by the electors of said City won the Charter Amendment Measures hereinafter set
forth, and the Registrar of Voters of said County did certify to this Council the results of the
votes cast at said Election upon said Measures, which certification is now on file in the office of
the City Clerk of said City of Alameda.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA as follows:
I. Said canvass by the Registrar of Voters of Alameda County as shown by said certification
and the result of said Election is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved.
2. At said Election the following Charter Amendment Measures to the Charter of the City
of Alameda were submitted to the electors of said City and the number of votes cast in said City for
and against said Measures were as follows:
AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
MEASURE D:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to
limit the number of consecutive terms an elected official, other
than Auditor or Treasurer, may serve to two terms? Said amendment
will be accomplished by adding Section 2-14 to said Charter,
all as fully set forth in Resolution No. 8578 of the Council of
the City of Alameda.
MEASURE E:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to
require residency in the City of Alameda of elected officials
and all officials appointed to Boards and Commissions, but not
other officers? Said amendment will be accomplished by amending
Section 2-5 of said Charter, all as fully set forth in
Resolution No. 8578 of the Council of the City of Alameda.
MEASURE F:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to
provide that two Councilmen exclusive of the Mayor, be elected
every two years? Said amendment will be accomplished by
adding Section 2-6.1 to said Charter, all as fully set forth
in Resolution No. 8578 of the Council of the City of Alameda.
MEASURE G:
Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended
to provide that all Board and Commission members he aopointed
by the City Council without requiring nomination of the Mayor?
Said amendment will be accomplished by adding Section 10-1.1
and amending Sections 10-2, 10-3, 10-4 and 10-4.1, all as
fully set forth in Resolution No. 8578 of the Council of the
City of Alameda.

3. The total number of votes cast in said City of
Alameda at said Special Municipal Charter Amendment Election
and the total number of votes given in each precinct for and
against said Charter Amendment Measures was and is as set forth
in said canvass by the Registrar of Voters of Alameda County.
4. More than a majority of all the votes cast at said Special Municipal Charter Amendment
Election on Measures D, E and F were in favor of said Measures and authorized the Amendments to the
Charter of the City of Alameda as set forth in said Charter Amendment Measures and these three parti-
cular Measures passed.
5. Less than a majority of all the votes cast at said Special Municipal Charter Amend-
ment Election on Measure G were in favor of said Measure and, accordingly, did not authorize that
amendment to the Charter of the City of Alameda set forth in said Charter Amendment Measure, and
Measure G did not pass.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the
21st day of December, 1976, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Hurwitz, Sherratt and President Corica, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
