CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8703
REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTION DATES FOR ALL CITIES
AND DISTRICTS
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda recently amended its Charter to adopt general law
election dates; and
WHEREAS, Peralta Community College District has chosen to hold its elections on
the same day as the City of Oakland; and
WHEREAS, both Peralta and Oakland are exempt from the general law election require-
ments and therefore two elections must be held in Alameda, one for the City and one for the
College; and
WHEREAS, said dual elections are expensive and unnecessary;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that said
Council requests that all cities, counties and districts be renuired to use the same election
dates.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of ':meda in regular meeting assembled on the
19th day of April, 1977, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Sherratt, Tillman and President Corica, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
