Resolution 08768CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8768 ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING THE REGIONAL HOUSING SUBSIDY DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM AND AUTHORIZING THE ASSOCIATION OF BAY AREA GOVERNMENTS TO APPLY FOR FEDERAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA WHEREAS, local governments in the Bay Area have demonstrated a commitment to providing adequate housing for all residents by developing local housing elements and Housing Assistance Plans, pursuant to State and federal requirements; and WHEREAS, local governments acting through ABAG, the Area- wide Planning Organization for the San Francisco Bay Area, have committed themselves to improved housing for low- and moderate- income people regionwide in Phase I of the Regional Housing Element, approved by ABAG's Executive Board on August 21, 1975; and WHEREAS, through Title II of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, federal housing subsidies are available to assist low- and moderate-income people get decent housing that meets their needs; and WHEREAS, federal housing subsidies are distributed among the nine Bay Axea counties and their municipalities according to the Regional Housing Subsidy Distribution System, developed and aPProved by ABAG 's Executive Board on September 16, 1976, following extensive communication with local elected officials, citizens and public groups; and WHEREAS, said regional system sets numerical goals for the distribution of low- and moderate-income housing assistance to the nine Bay Area counties and their larger municipalities in support of locally developed Housing Assistance Plans; and WHEREAS, ABAG shall apply for additional federal housing assistance on behalf of local governments, Participating Jurisdic- tions, which support and endorse said regional system; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that said City, a Participating Jurisdiction, supports implementation of the goals and objectives of ABAG's Regional Housing Subsidy Distribution System and urges ABAG to seek additional federal housing assistance to help local governments meet the needs they have identified, I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 2nd day of August, 1977, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Di amen S6ierratt, Tillman and President Corica, (5).
