AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF
OAKLAND FOR CUSTODY AND PRISONER-MAINTENANCE COSTS
WHEREAS, Oakland maintains and operates a City detention
facility for prisoners and Alameda has no prisoner detention
facilities; and
WHEREAS, Alameda desires to use the said City prisoner
detention facility for the confinement of persons arrested for
the violation of Alameda City ordinances and State law violations
occurring within Alameda or by the police officers of Alameda
Police Department prior to arraignment of such persons arrested;,
and
WHEREAS, a proposed agreement with the City of Oakland
relating to custody and prisoner-maintenance costs has been
submitted to this Council, and the Council is fully informed and
aware of the terms and conditions thereof and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Alameda
that said contract be entered into;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Alameda,
that certain agreement referred to above by and between the City
of Oakland and the City of Alameda relating to custody and
prisoner-maintenance costs. The City Clerk is hereby directed
to attest to same.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the, Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 4th day of April,
1978, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Beckam, Diament, Sherratt, Tillman,
and President Corica.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
