Resolution 08906CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 8906 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA IN COMMENDATION OF ELLEN SCHMALENBERGER ON HER RETIREMENT AS TREASURER-EX OFFICIO TAX COLLECTOR THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records with pride the long tenure of office of ELLEN SCHMALENBERGER, employee and officer of the City of Alameda for twenty-two years and nine months. WHEREAS, Mrs. Schmalenberger was first employed by the City in September, 1955, as an Intermediate Typist Clerk, was promoted to Assistant Deputy Treasurer on August 31, 1964, and appointed Deputy Treasurer on January 1, 1971; and WHEREAS, after diligent and capable performance of her work in this capacity, on August 17, 1971, Mrs. Schmalenberger was appointed to the office of Acting City Treasurer-ex officio Tax Collector of the City of Alameda and was subsequently appointed to the office of Treasurer-ex officio Tax Collector on June 20, 1972; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Schmalenberger was elected to the office of City Treasurer-ex officio Tax Collector by the residents of the City for a term commencing March 13, 1973, winning re-election on March 8, 1977, for a term expiring April 21, 1981; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Schmalenberger has demonstrated her loyalty and competence in the assumption of responsibilities and the discharge of her duties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda hereby acknowledges with great esteem the many years of outstanding service rendered by this faithful employee and officer and expresses its gratitude for her sense of integrity and devotion to duty in carrying out the responsibilities of her office; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda and all of her many friends throughout the community extend to 'Ellen" their hearty congratulations on her accomplishments and their best wishes for continued good health and much happiness in her retirement. c7,ceeet, I. the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th day of May, 1978, by the following vote, to wit: AYES; Councilmen Diament, Sherrott, Tillman, and President Corica, (4).
