APPROVING CITY'S ENTRY INTO EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN
(EMT) APPRENTICESHIP STANDARDS PROGRAM AND ACCEPTING
NON-LOCAL FUNDS FOR SAID PROGRAM
WHEREAS, a proposal has been made by the Fire Department
and the Alameda Firefighters Association to enter into a federal
grant program for expansion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
training of firefighters; and
WHEREAS, said program offers a higher quality of EMT
training for initiates as well as retraining under higher standards
for existing EMT's which will result in potential benefits to the
City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby approves the City's entry into
the EMT Apprenticeship Standards Program and hereby accepts non-
local funds for said program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Council -hereby finds that:
(1) The EMT Apprenticeship Standards Program is a training
program only and does not in itself increase service levels.
(2) The addition of EMT's resulting from the program will
not increase service levels in the Fire Department.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th day of January,
1979, by the following vote, to wit:
