FAVORING DEVELOPMENT OF ENCINAL HIGH SCHOOL/NAVAL
AIR STATION FISHING ACCESS SITE IN COOPERATION WITH
WILDLIFE CONSERVATION BOARD AND SETTING FORTH
PROVISIONS FOR FUNDING
WHEREAS, the Wildlife Conservation Board of the State of
California has a program of constructing public fishing access
projects in cooperation with local governments for the benefit
of the public; and
WHEREAS, a project to develop access to San Francisco Bay
at the Encinal High School/Naval Air Station site in Alameda,
Alameda County, has been proposed; and
WHEREAS, such a project would benefit the people of Alameda
and the state generally by providing for the suitable use of our
natural resources7
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that said Council goes on record in favor of developing
said public access on a cooperative basis with the State of
California, by and through the Wildlife Conservation Board, and
that the Council agrees, in the event of such development, that
said City of Alameda will assume the maintenance and operation of
said area and improvements and will provide a lease of the premises
to the State for a twenty-five year period;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda will provide
funds to the extent of $155,000 toward the construction of the
project with the understanding that the Wildlife Conservation Board
will apply for an equal amount from the Federal Land and Water
Conservation Fund, half of which ($77,500) would be returned to the
City of Alameda.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Wildlife Conservation Board
of the State of California be advised that the City of Alameda
will cooperate fully in such a cooperative project and that a
certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to said Wildlife
Conservation Board.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th day of January,
1979, by the following vote, to wit:
