Resolution 09139CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 9139 SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF BEDS AND SERVICES FOR ALAMEDA HOSPITAL WHEREAS, the Alameda Hospital of Alameda is in need of modern, up-to-date beds and services in order to better serve the health needs of the City and adjacent areas and has made applica- tion to the State of California Department of Health to this effect; and WHEREAS, Alameda Hospital is the only hospital in Alameda and the nearest major acute hospital facility to the population of the island; and WHEREAS, Alameda Hospital would be the only available acute general hospital available to the population of the island of Alameda if a major seismic disaster occurred; and WHEREAS, the population of Alameda includes many senior citizens who are constantly in need of health care; and WHEREAS, the population of Alameda and the surrounding area is experiencing a slight population growth and is projected to do so for several years to come; and WHEREAS, the Hospital has committed to delicensure of unnecessary and unneeded acute care beds, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA as follows: 1. That it supports the application of the Alameda Hospital of Alameda for replacement of acute care beds and services as a means of maintaining the area's vital health services to meet the needs of the citizens of the Alameda area. 2. That a suitable copy of this resolution be forwarded to the State of California Department of Health. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st day of August, 1979, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman, and President Corica, (5).
