CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO, BE HELD IN THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA ON TUESDAY,; APRIL 21, 1981; ESTABLISHING
ELECTION PRECINCTS; FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION OFFICERS
ON THE BOARD OF 'ELECTION FOR EACH PRECINCT;' FIXING
COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING HOURS
OF VOTING
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Alameda provides that
a General Municipal Election shall be held in said City on
Tuesday, April 21, 1981, and
WHEREAS, at said General Municipal Election, and pursuant
to the provisions of the Charter of said City, officers are to be
elected to fill the office of Councilman for two full terms; the
office of Treasurer for one full terra; the office of Auditor for
one full term and the< office of Member of the Board of Education
for three full terms, and
WHEREAS, the Board o Trustees of the Peralta Community
College District of Alameda County, State of California and the
County Superintendent of Schools of Alameda County have requested
the consolidation of said district's governing board member
election with the City's General Municipal Election; and
WHEREAS, at said district governing board member election
officers are to be elected t. fill the office of Trustee for
ee full terms;
NOW, TIIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that a General Municipal Election be, and is hereby,
called and ordered to be held in said City of Alameda, State of
California, on Tuesday, April 21, 1981, in accordance with the
provisions of said Charter of the City of Alameda and the Elections
Code of the State of California, for the purpose of electing the
following named officers of the City for the terms specified:
Two (2) Councilmen on the Council of said City for
two full terms, each term commencing at 8x00 o'clock
p-m. on the third Tuesday in May 1981, and continu-
ing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor
is elected and qualified;
One (1) Treasurer_ of said City for one full term
commencing' at 8 :00 o'clock :p.m. on the third Tuesday
in May, 1981, and continuing for four (4) years
thereafter and until a successor is elected and
qualified.
One (1) Auditor of said City for one full term
commencing at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday
in May 1981, and continuing for four (4) years
thereafter and until a successor is elected and
qualified
Three (3) members of the Board of Education of said
City, each -term commencing at 8 :00 o'clock p.m. on
the third Tuesday in May, 1981, and continuing for
four. (4) years thereafter and until a successor
elected and qualified;
and for the purpose of voting on any measures or propositions
which may lawfully be submitted at said election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at said election -the following
named members of the Peralta Community College District of Alameda
County governing board shall be elected for the terms specified:
Three (3) Trustees of the Peralta Community College
District of Alameda County governing board, each term
commencing on May 28, 1981, and continuing for four
(4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected
and qualified,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the forty -seven (47) election
precincts within the City of Alameda, designated and numbered as
the same were last heretofore defined, fixed, and established
by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of
California, as the election precincts within the City of Alameda
for holding General State and County Elections, be and the same
are hercby, fixed, designated, and established as the election
precincts for holding the aforesaid General Municipal Election.
BE IT, FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Election for each
election precinct'at said General Municipal Election shall consist
of a maximum of one Inspector, one Judge and two Clerks.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the compensation to be paid
to each of the election officers for conducting said General
Municipal Election be, and the same is hereby, fixed at the sum
of Thirty -nine and 50/100 Dollars ($39.59) to the Inspectors,
Thirty -four and 50/100 Dollar s ($34.50) to the Judges and Clerks,
and an extra sum of Five Dollars ($5.00), shall be paid to the
election officer who delivers the returns to the City Clerk.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the polls -at the polling places
hereafter to be designated by the Council for said election shall
be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m. (F.S.T.) of said day of election
and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until 8 :00 o'clock
p-m. (P -S.T,) of said day of election when the polls shall be
closed, as provided in the California Elections Code, and the
election officers shall thereupon proceed to process the ballots
cast thereat and the returns of said election shall be made out
and signed by the election officers and shall be by them deposited
with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council shall meet at
its usual meeting place and canvass said returns on Tuesday, the
28th day of April, 1981, being the first Tuesday after said
General Municipal Election, at the hour of 7 :30 o'clock p.m. and
declare the results of said General Municipal Election.
BE IT FURTHHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she is
hereby, directed to do and perform any and all acts required of
her under the Charter of the City of Alameda and the laws of the
State of California in respect to said General Municipal
Election.
BE Im FURTHER RESOLVED that said General Municipal Election
called and ordered to be held, as aforesaid, shall be held and
conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and
the returns thereof made, and the result thereof ascertained,
determined, and declared, as herein provided, and in all
particulars not recited herein, in accordance with the Charter
of said City, of Alameda and the laws of the State of California
governing said General Municipal Election.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled
on the 6th day of January, 1981, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman and
President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
