AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF GRANT APPLICATION TO OFFICE
OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION FOR FUNDS TO PREPARE
HISTORICAL STUDY OF CITY HALL AND TO CARRY OUT CERTAIN
STABILIZATION AND RESTORATION ACTIVITIES ON THE
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR OF CI`1'Y AHLL
WHEREAS, Alameda City Hall was constructed in 1895 and
remains to this day a significant historical structure open to the
public and serving its original purpose as the seat of the local
government; and
WHEREAS, Alameda City Hall was placed on the National
Register of historic Places on October 14, 1980; and
WHEREAS, the Congress, under Public Law 89 -665, has
authorised the establishment of a National Historic Preservation
Grants -in -Aid Program, providing matching funds to the State of
California and its political subdivisions for historic preservation,
survey; planning; development and acquisition projects; and
WHEREAS, the California Office of Historic Preservation is
responsible for the administration of the program within the State,
setting up necessary rules and procedures governing application by
local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established by the
California Office of Historic Preservation require the applicant
to certify by resolution the approval o applications and the
availability of local matching funds prior_ to submission of said
applications to the State;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that tYie City Council hereby agrees
that necessary local matching funds will -be provided or the
project
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled
on the 7th of April, 1981, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman and
President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
