SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY
EXTENSION SERVICE BY SOLAR IDEAS. INC, FOR FUNDS TO
CARRY OUT A COMMUNITY ENERGY EDUCATION PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Energy Element of the City of Alameda`s
General Plan recommends the use of solar technology wherever
feasible to reduce the City's dependence on fossil fuels; and
WHEREAS, the Energy Element recommends furthermore the
establishment of programs to educate the citizens of t2ie City
regarding effioi_ent energy use and energy conservation measures;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda suppor
to increase community awareness of methods

WHEREAS Solar Ideas; Inc., a local firm specializing in
the design and installation of solar domestic hot "water systems
has applied to the California Energy Extension Service for funds
to provide educational outreach and technical services free of
charge to Alameda residents;

NOW THEREFORE,. BE I°T' RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the City of Alameda supports the application, of
Solar Ideas, Inc. to the California Energy Extension Service for
funds to carry out a community energy education program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Alameda supports
the establishment of other community -based programs having s
goals of reducing energy consumption and increasing local aware
ness of energy conservation measures.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled
on the 7th of April, 1981, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Sherratt, Stone, Tillman and
President Corica - 5.
