NALCITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 9671
COMMENDING FIRE DEPARTMENT, POLICE DEPARTMENT,
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, RECREATION AND PARKS
DEPARTMENT, AND THE BUREAU OF ELECTRICITY FOR
THEIR EXCELLENT WORK DURING THE RECENT STORM
WHEREAS, during the last week of December, 1981, and the first
week of January, 1982, the City of Alameda experienced severe storms with
high winds and heavy rains; and
WHEREAS, the storms created flooding which caused traffic problems,
traffic accidents, other safety hazards, and equipment failure; and
WHEREAS, the storm situation threatened damage to property, both public
property and property of private citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City received emergency calls and calls from citizens
for assistance, employees responded to accidents and traffic problems, assisted
citizens to take temporary steps to alleviate property damage such as leaky roofs,
and flooded basements and gas meters; and
WHEREAS, employees inspected public property and worked to alleviate
damage to trees and parks and to keep sanitary sewers and storm drains operable;
and
WHEREAS, many people worked willingly day and night without sleep;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda
acknowledges with great pride the outstanding service rendered to the City and
community by the Fire Department, Police Department, Public Works Department,
Recreation and Parks Department, and the Bureau of Electricity; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council commends those departments and
their employees for their diligent work in protecting the public safety and property
and for their assistance to the citizens of Alameda.

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the
Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled
on the 19th of January, 1982, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Gorman, Sherratt, Stone, and
President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
