Resolution 09698ORIGINAL CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 9698 SUPPORTING RETENTION OF THE UNITED STATES COAST GUARD TRAINING FACILITY ON GOVERNMENT ISLAND IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA WHEREAS, the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center has been located within the City of Alameda many years; and WHEREAS, we have heard there is a possibility of closing that facility; and WHEREAS, this Base has provided ourcnuntrywith well-trained sailors who serve our nation not only in wartime, but also are involved with many missions of mercy and a tremendous help to the maritime industry and have done an outstanding job in drug and narcotic control; and WHEREAS, the City has enjoyed a long and productive relationship with the personnel on Government Island; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda urges the retention of the United States Coust Guard Training Facility on Government Island in the City of Alameda. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th of February, 1982, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmen Dia ent, Gorman, Sherratt, Stone and President Corica - 5. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official seal of said City this 17th day of February, 1982.
