COMMENDING THE "FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY" FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING
VOLUNTEER WORK IN SUPPORT OF LIBRARY OPERATIONS
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Alameda Library was founded in 1974
to assist the Library with much needed help; and
WHEREAS, members have volunteered a great deal of time as well as
money in their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, they have sponsnned � events such as annual book sales and
musicals and provided funds for renovation of various parts of the Main Library
and the West End Branch, equipment and books, and also funded many childreno'
programs; and
WHEREAS, to date they have raised almost $30,000 which has been donated
to assist the Library in providing services to the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED t the Council of the City of
Alameda commends the Friends of the Alameda Free Library for their extensive
volunteer work and expresses appreciation for the time and effort spent on
behalf of the Library.
I, the undersigned, hereby-certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 1st of March, 1983,
