AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH THE
ALAMEDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL
ASSISTANCE
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is the recipient of Community
Development Block Grant Entitlement funds as authorized by the
Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 as amended; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has adopted an economic
development strategy pursuant to 570.304(b)3 of the Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) guidelines for Community
Development Block Grant Entitlements funds; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the economic development strategy,
the City of Alameda has approved the establishment of a Certified
Development Corporation and endorses the concept of the "Main
Street U.S.A." program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has solicited statements
of qualifications to provide technical assistance in the formation
of both the Certified Development Corporation and "Main Street
U.S.A."; and
WHEREAS, there exist funds in the Community Development
Block Grant Entitlement program for such technical assistance;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA that the City Manager is directed to execute
a contract between the Alameda Chamber of Commerce and the City
of Alameda to provide technical assistance to the formation
of the Certified Development Corporation and the "Main Street
U.S.A." program for a period of time not to exceed six months
and not to exceed $12,600.00; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager direct staff
to provide coordination and direction in the overall efforts
to establish the Certified Develelpment Corporation and provide
technical assistance to "Main Street U.S.A." program.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th day of April, 1983,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: CouncilmeMbers Diament, Sherratt, Stone and President Corica - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: CouncilmeMber Gorman - 1.
