DESIGNATING ALAMEDA HISTORICAL MUSEUM AS OFFICIAL
REPOSITORY OF HISTORICAL ITEMS RELATING TO THE
HISTORY OF ALAMEDA -
WHEREAS, the Alameda Historical Society was founded in
1948 as a nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving and
protecting the history of the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Historical Museum has been established
in a permanent location in the Historic Alameda High School
for two years; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the Alameda Historical Museum
is to preserve, protect and display historical artifacts, docu-
ments and photographs of the City of Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda wishes to encourage the
preservation and protection of materials related to the history
of Alameda.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby designates the Alameda
Historical Museum as the official repository of historical
artifacts, documents and photographs relating to the history
of Alameda; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda is
authorized to loan or donate items of historical interest to
the Alameda Historical Museum for their preservation and display;
and
2 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda encourages
individuals having possession of items of historical interest
to Alameda to loan or donate these items to the Alameda Historical
Museum.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of
Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th of August, 1983, by
the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Monsef and President Diament - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Lucas - 1.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the official
seal of said City this 17th day of August, 1983.
