REJECTING ALL BIDS RECEIVED FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND
LIGHTING SYSTEM AT CENTRAL AVENUE AND BALLENA
BOULEVARD/FOURTH STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE PUBLIC
WORKS DIRECTOR TO CONSTRUCT THE SAME WITH CITY FORCES
WHEREAS, on July 5, 1983, this Council adopted Plans
and Specifications No. P.W. 6-83-13 and called for bids for
the installation of a Traffic Signal and Lighting System at
Central Avenue and Ballena Boulevard/Fourth Street; and
WHEREAS, four bids were submitted ranging from $64,200
to $71,850; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has estimated that
this project can be constructed by City forces for $50,000;
and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that construction by
City forces would be in the best interests of the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby rejects all bids
received and opened on July 28, 1983, in response to its call
for bids for the Installation of a Traffic Signal and Lighting
System at Central Avenue and Ballena Boulevard/Fourth Street;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, pursuant to the provisions
of Section 3-15 of the Alameda City Charter, the Public Works
Director is hereby authorized to construct said project with
City forces.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the. City of
Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th of August, 1983, by
the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Monsef and President Diament - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Lucas - 1.
