FINDING AND DETERMINING LEANDRO STREET AND PORTIONS
OF MARKET STREET, PUBLIC STREETS IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA,
ARE UNNECESSARY FOR PRESENT OR PROSPECTIVE STREET
PURPOSES; FINDING NO RESERVATION OF EASEMENT THEREIN
NECESSARY; ORDERING THE VACATION THEREOF AND DIRECTING
CITY CLERK TO CAUSE CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION
TO BE RECORDED
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda, did, on the
6th day of September, 1983, adopt its Resolution of Intention No.
10148 declaring its intention to order the vacation of
1. All of Leandro Street (60 feet wide, unimproved)
and four separate parcels of excess property along
Fernside Boulevard including portions of Leandro
Street (abandoned), as more particularly described
in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part of
this resolution;
2. A portion of Market Street northeasterly of
Calhoun Street as more particularly described
in Exhibit "E" attached hereto and made a part
of this resolution;
3. A portion of the southwestern terminus of Market
Street, as more particularly described in Exhibit
"C" attached hereto and made a part of this
resolution,
and hereby finds and determines that public convenience and
necessity do not require reservation by said City of any easements
or rights of way in said portions of said streets; and
WHEREAS, particulars of the proposed vacations are shown
on the following maps on file in the office of the City Clerk:
1. That certain map entitled, "Leandro Street Abandon--
ment and Excess Property along Fernside Boulevard,"
prepared by the City Engineer, dated June, 1983,
denominated Drawing 7876, Case 51, in the records
of the City Engineer;
2. That certain map entitled, "Market Street Abandon-
ment," prepared by the City Engineer, dated June, 1983,
denominated Drawing 7875, Case 54, in the records
of the City Engineer;
3. That certain map entitled, "Abandonment of Market
Street South of Bridge View Isle," prepared by
the City Engineer, dated June, 1983, denominated
Drawing 7873, Case 54, in the records of the City
Engineer;
and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk caused Notice of said proposed street
vacation to be published and Notice thereof and of the time and
place of hearing thereon was duly posted in accordance with the
requirements of Part 3 of Division 9, of the Streets and Highways
Code of California; and
WHEREAS, proof of said publication is evidenced by the
affidavit of publication now on file in the office of the City
Clerk; and
WHEREAS, proof of said posting of such notices is evidenced
by the affidavit of the person posting said notices, and is now
on file in the office of the City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, the matter of said proposed vacations came on
regularly for hearing before the Council of the City of Alameda
at its regular meeting on the 4th day of October, 1983, and at the
time and place fixed in said Resolution of Intention, and at such
hearing the said Council heard the evidence offered by all persons
interested in said street vacations; and a full hearing thereon
having been had and the matter submitted for determination;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that said Council hereby finds and determines, from all
the evidence submitted, that Leandro Street and portions of Market
Street, in said Resolution of intention and hereinbefore more
particularly described are unnecessary for present and prospective
public street purposes and that public interest requires the vaca-
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Leandro Street and the portions
of Market Street in said Resolution of Intention and hereinbefore
more particularly described be, and the same are hereby vacated.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to have a certified copy of this Resolution recorded in
the office of the Recorder of Alameda County, California.
LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR ABANDONMENT OF
LEANDRO STREET (Unimproved)
In the City of Alameda, County of Alameda, State of California, All of
LEANDRO STREET (60 feet wide, unimproved), as said street is delineated and so
designated on that certain map entitled, "Map No. 2 of Salt Marsh and Tide
Lands situate in the County of Alameda, State of California, 1871 ", certified
copies thereof having been filed with the County Recorder of the City and
County of San Francisco, and in the office of the Department of Finance,
Division of State Lands, State of California, and as also shown and so desig-
nated on the "Map of the Town of Alameda and Adjacent Lands ", filed for record
September 12, 1867 in Book 5 of Maps, at page 16, in the office of the Alameda
County Recorder;
The southeastern boundary of said Leandro Street is more particularly
defined as the northwestern boundaries of Blocks 58 and 67, as said blocks are
shown on said Town map, and the general northwestern boundary of Parcel 1, as
said Parcel is described in the Final Order of Condemnation, Suit No. 435600,
in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of
Alameda, recorded August 29, 1974, on Reel 3764, Image 594, in the office of
the Alameda County Recorder;
EXCEPTING THEREFROM all those portions thereof lying within the new right —of-
way for FERNSIDE BOULEVARD as extended, a relevant portion of which is
described as follows:
BEGINNING at the most western corner of that certain Block D, as said block is
shown on the map entitled, "Tract 1849 ", filed for record June 6, 1958 in
Book 38 of Maps, page 87, said corner having the coordinates: y= 461,091.95
feet and x= 1,499,849.76 feet, (based upon the California Coordinate
System, as are all bearings and distances in this description);
THENCE along the are of a curve, tangent to the northwestern boundary of said
Block D, and concave to the southeast and having a radius of 1000 feet,
through a central angle of 3 #37127.5 ", an are distance of 63.26 feet to a
point of reverse curve; also having a radius of 1000 feet;

Four separate parcels including portions of Leandro Street (60 feet wide;
abandoned), as said street is delineated and so designated on that certain map
entitled, "Map of the Town of Alameda and Adjacent Lands ", filed for record
September 12, 1867 in Book 5 of Maps, at page 16, in the office of the Alameda
County Recorder, also including portions of Lot 30, Section 18, Township 2
South, Range 3 West, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian, as shown on that certain
map entitled, "Map No. 2 of Salt Marsh and Tide Lands situate in the County of
Alameda, State of California, 1871 ", certified copies thereof having been filed
with the County Recorder of the City and County of San Francisco, and in the
office of the Department of Finance, Division of State Lands, State of
California, and further described as follows:

BEGINNING at the most western corner of that certain Parcel 1, as described in
the Grant Deed to the City of Alameda, recorded June 16, 1982 under

Real property in the City of Alameda, County of Alameda, State of
California, and described as follows:
Being a portion of the southwestern terminus of Market Street (60 feet
wide) as shown and so designated on that certain map entitled, "Map No. 2 of.
Salt Marsh and Tide Lands situate in the County of Alameda, State of
California, 1871 ", certified copies thereof having been filed with the County
Recorder of the City and County of San Francisco, and in the office of the
Department of Finance, Division of State Lands, State of California, and as
also shown and so designated on the "Map of the Town of Alameda and Adjacent
Lands ", filed for record, September 12, 1867 in Book 5 of Maps at page 16, in
the office of the Alameda County Recorder, and further described as follows:
COMMENCING at the intersection of the northwestern line of said Market Street,
and the southwestern line of Otis Drive (formerly Front Street and Bay
Island Avenue, now known as Bridge View Isle), as said Front Street is
also shown and so designated on the aforesaid maps;
THENCE South 42 *22'37" West along said northwestern line of Market Street (the
bearing South 42 *22'37" West being taken for the purpose of this descrip-
tion), 21.84 feet to the southwestern line of said Bridge View Isle, as
the same now exists (80 feet wide), which point is the TRUE POINT OF
BEGINNING;
