Resolution 10257CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 10257 STATING AND REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 1984, WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD TUESDAY, JUNE 5, 1984 (CHARTER AMENDMENT ON PETITION OF ELECTORS REGARDING EXEMPTION OF BUILDING LOCATED ON ASSESSOR'S PARCEL 74- 906 -13 -2 AND KNOWN AS THE "RED BRICK BUILDING" FROM PROVISIONS OF THE CITY CHARTER) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 4, Part 2, Division 12, of the Elections Code of California, and of Section 23302 thereof, and pursuant to Article XIX of the Charter of the City of Alameda, a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of the City a Charter amendment measure as set forth in the statement of the question below, be consolidated with the State of California Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, June 5, 1984. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the election precincts, polling places, voting booths, and election officers who shall conduct said Special Election are hereby designated to be the same as the election precincts, polling places, voting booths, and election officers as shall be designated, established and appointed by resolution or ordinance of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda for the purpose of holding and conducting said Primary Election within the territory affected by this order of consolidation, and that said election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of said County of Alameda is hereby authorized and empowered to canvass the returns of said Special Municipal Election and certify the results thereof. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, be, and it is hereby requested to make its order and to take such other and further proceedings as may be necessary to effect the consolidation of said Special Election with said State of California Primary Election, all in accordance with the laws of the State of California regulating and providing for the consolidation of elections. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the exact form of the measure to be voted on at said Special Election, and as the same are to appear on the ballot, is as follows: AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA MEASURE Shall the Charter of the City of Alameda be amended to provide that the building located on Assessor's Parcel 74- 906 -13 -2 which is alternately known as the Union Iron Works Turbine Machine Shop, the Bethlehem Steel Building, and the "Red Brick Building" shall be exempt from the provisions of :YES : Article XXVI, Section 26 -1; this exemption shall pertain only to the "Red Brick Building ?" Said amendment will be accomplished by adding Section 26 -3 to Article XXVI of :NO the Charter, all as fully set forth in Resolution No. /05'6, of the Council of the City of Alameda. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the measure hereinabove referred to shall be designated on the ballot as "Proposed Amendment to the Charter of the City of Alameda, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Alameda is hereby directed to immediately file with the Board of Supervisors, County of Alameda, State of California, this resolution, duly certified by said City Clerk, and file a copy of said certified resolution with the Registrar of Voters of the County of Alameda, State of California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that appropriation of $15,000 from the General Fund Reserve is authorized for expenditures required for said Special Municipal Election for which Alameda Marina Village Associates has agreed to reimburse the City of Alameda. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 21st of February, 1984, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas and President Diament - 4.
