REQUESTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $345,751 FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT
OF A BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITY AT THE ALAMEDA PARK
LAUNCHING/FISHING FACILITY (ENCINAL BOAT RAMP)
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is desirous of improving a
boat launching facility at the Alameda Park Launching/Fishing
Facility (Encinal Boat Ramp) to meet the needs of the boaters and
to provide public access to the water; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Boating and Waterways is autho-
rized to provide grants to cities, counties, districts, and other
public agencies for the construction and development of small craft
launching facilities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has conducted an inventory of
existing boat launching facilities in the area and has determined
that the proposed project will not be detrimental to the operations
of private boating businesses in the area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has provided a forum for comments
and has determined that the proposed project is needed to provide
the public with access to the waterfront. A copy of the public
notice, the City Council meeting agenda, and public comments con-
cerning the proposed project are submitted as a part of this applica-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has conducted a feasibility
report which showed the proposed project to be engineeringly and
financially feasible and economically justified; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is willing to enter into an
agreement to provide for the operation and maintenance of the
proposed facilities at no cost to the State;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the City of Alameda by adoption of this resolution
hereby requests that the Department of Boating and Waterways provide
a grant for the purpose of improving a public use boat launching
facility at the Alameda Park Launching/Fishing Facility (Encinal
Boat Ramp); and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Alameda agrees to
accept the grant and the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute
and the City Clerk to attest said grant agreement on behalf of the
City of Alameda.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $21,875 is hereby
authorized to be appropriated from the Sewer Service Fund to
provide for costs of the necessary utilities.

City of Alameda in a Regular Adjourned Council Meetinc assembled
