AWARDING CONTRACT TO P AND F CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR
REALIGHMENT AND RECONSTRUCTION OF EIGHTH STREET AND
CENTRAL AVENUE AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION THEREOF AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE GAS TAX 2107 FUND AND
THE TOPICS FUND FOR A PORTION OF THE PROJECT COSTS
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda heretofore
published notice calling for bids for the Realignment and
Reconstruction of Eighth Street and Central Avenue in accordance
with Specifications No. P.W. 10-82-18, approved January 3, 1984;
and
WHEREAS, in response to said notice a sealed bid was sub-
mitted by P and F Construction, Inc. agreeing to perform said work
in accordance with said Specifications for the sum of $31,905;
and.
WHEREAS, said firm is a responsible bidder and its proposal
is the lowest and best bid received; and
WHEREAS, the City is financially responsible for 10% of the
cost of rounding off the southwest corner of the intersection at
Central Avenue and Eighth Street and for 50% of the cost of the
traffic signal modification;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that the bid of P and F Construction, Inc. is hereby
accepted and, subject to approval by Caltrans, the contract for
Realignment and Reconstruction of Eighth Street and Central
Avenue is hereby awarded to said bidder, and the Mayor is hereby
authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, said contract
on behalf of the City of Alameda.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $2,529 is hereby
appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the Gas Tax 2107
Fund and the sum of $5,701 is hereby appropriated from the unappro-
priated balance of the TOPICS Fund to cover the City's portion
of the costs of this project.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in a Regular Adjourned Council Meeting assembled
on the 26th day of June, 1984, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
