AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF PROTECTIVE VESTS
FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, funds are available in the Fiscal Year 1984-1985
Police Department Budget for the purchase of protective vests as
required by Section 26.5 paragraph 2 of the current Memorandum
of Understanding between the City and the Alameda Police Associa-
tion; and
WHEREAS, the MOU specifies that the brand of protective
vests be "American Body Armor", distributed exclusively in northern
California by L.and A. Leather of San Leandro; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the vest provided by
L. and A. Leather is the best option for police class equipment
available to the City at this time;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ALAMEDA that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter the
Police Chief or his designee and the Purchasing Agent are hereby
authorized to negotiate and purchase protective vests for the
Police Department on the open market.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th of August, 1984,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: CUUnCfl0emberS Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
