AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION FOR GRANT FOR
LAW ENFORCEMENT PURPOSES TO THE OFFICE OF CRIMINAL
JUSTICE PLANNING TO FUND A POLICE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY
CRIME RESISTANCE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING ONE ADDITIONAL
POLICE TECHNICIAN POSITION IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda Police Department desires
to undertake a certain project designated Community Crime
Resistance Project to be funded in part from funds made available
through State General Funds as authorized by Chapter 1291 of
the 1982 Statutes for the California Community Crime Resistance
Program, administered by the Office of Criminal Justice Planning
(hereafter referred to as OCJP).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Alameda that the City Manager, J. Bruce Rupp, is hereby
authorized, on behalf of the City, to submit an Application
for Grant for Law Enforcement Purposes to OCJP and is hereby
authorized to execute, on behalf of the City, the Grant Award
for law enforcement purposes including any extensions or amendments
thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City agrees to provide
all matching funds required for said project (including any
extension or amendment thereof) under the Community Crime
Resistance Program and the rules and regulations of OCJP and
that cash will be appropriated as required thereby.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that grant funds received hereunder
will not be used to supplant law enforcement expenditures con -
trolled by this body.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council hereby authorizes
one (1) additional Police Technician position in the Police
Department, to be funded by this grant.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 2nd day of January, 1985,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
