AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF TWO STREET
SWEEPERS FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, funds have been budgeted for the purchase of
a street sweeper for the Public Works Department; and
WHEREAS, in order to implement the proposed new street
sweeping program it is necessary to purchase two street sweepers
at this time; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a three-wheel vacuum-
type sweeper, with a net hopper capacity of 5.5 cubic yards and
a high-lift dump operation is the best equipment for Alameda;
and
WHEREAS, purchase on the open market will allow for cost
savings that would otherwise not be available in the formal bid
process; and
WHEREAS, by negotiation on the open market, discounts
allowed for the purchase of more than one machine, and salary
savings anticipated by the use of more efficient machines, it
is possible to fund the purchase of two street sweepers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-]5 of the City Chater the
Public Works Department, in cooperation with the City Purchasing
Agent, is hereby authorized to negotiate and purchase two three-
wheel vacuum-type street sweepers on the open market.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
Was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th of May, 1985,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: OJUncfl0Emb8rs Gorman, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Oiament - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
