Resolution 10719CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 10719 AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH TAXI CAB COMPANIES TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION TO CITY OF ALAMEDA ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED TAXI SCRIP PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has entered into an agreement with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to receive Transportation Development Act, Article 4.5 funds to provide paratransit services for elderly and handicapped residents of the City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, it has been determined to be in the best interests of the senior and handicapped residents to have increased access to taxicab services through the City's Senior/Handicapped Transportation Program; and WHEREAS, several taxi service providers have recently requested authorization to accept taxi scrip issued to eligible Alameda residents and each of these companies holds the necessary permits authorizing operation in the City of Alameda and has obtained the necessary liability insurance and agrees furthermore to hold the City of Alameda harmless from any and all loss, injury, or damage occasioned in the performance of this agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City, agreements with qualified companies to provide taxi services for participants of the City of Alameda's Senior and Handicapped Transportation Program. : :LI BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute, for and on behalf of the City, agreements with current providers to renew their contracts. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 3rd of September, 1985, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councflmembers Corica, Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 5.
