Resolution 10720CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 10720 SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT 32 DECLARING PUBLIC EMPLOYEE STRIKES TO BE ILLEGAL WHEREAS, the California Supreme Court decision in the 1985 case of County Sanitation District No. 2 of Los Angeles County v. Los Angeles County Employees Association, Local 660 has legalized public employee strikes; and WHEREAS, chief administrative officers in every jurisdiction in California face the problem of providing vital public services when bargaining sessions with unions break down; and WHEREAS, Assemblyman Tom McClintock has introduced Assembly Constitutional Amendment 32 which will declare public employee strikes to be illegal and sets forth specific rules to be followed in the discharge or reinstatement of workers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that said Council goes on record as supporting the passage of ACA 32; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to the author of the Assembly Constitutional Amendment, Assemblyman Tom McClintock, State Senator Nicholas C. Petris, State Assemblyman Elihu Harris, and members of the Public Employees and Retirement Committee. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 3rd of September, 1985 by the following vote to wit: AYES: Council members Hanna, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 4.
