AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
NAVY PUBLIC WORKS CENTER FOR A MILITARY HOUSING
STUDY
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda, through its Substantial
Rehabilitation Program, has demonstrated the feasibility of
developing residential rental units in existing structures on
scattered sites in the community; and
WHEREAS, officials of the United States Navy and of the
Department of Defense have reviewed Alameda's Program and
determined that the Substantial Rehabilitation approach may
provide an acceptable alternative to large-scale multi-family
development; and
WHEREAS, the United States Navy and the Department of
Defense have determined that the City of Alameda has the
capability and experience to undertake a study of the feasibility
of adapting the Substantial Rehabilitation approach to address
the need for military housing in Alameda; and
WHEREAS, the Navy Public Works Center has appropriated
1- $29,000 for the performance of such a study;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
Alameda that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute,
17,Kfor and on behalf of the City, an agreement with the Navy Public

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 3rd of September, 1985,
by the following vote to wit:

NOES: Councilmembers Lucas and Monsef - 2.
ABSENT: None.
