AUTHORIZING RENEWAL OF EXISTING LANDSCAPE
MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH CAGWIN & DORWARD,
LANDSCAPE ENGINEERING CONTRACTORS, WITH CERTAIN
MODIFICATIONS, AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF
RENEWAL OF AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, on November 24, 1981, the City entered into an
agreement with Cagwin & Dorward, Landscape and Engineering
Contractors, to provide landscape maintenance of various areas
in the City for one year, and
WHEREAS, the quality of work by said Contractor has been
acceptable to the City and the community and the contract has
been renewed on a year -to -year basis since 1981, and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that increased
efficiency and better utilization of City staff and contract
services would result if the City assumed responsibility for
maintenance at Godfrey Park` and Leydecker Park and the
Contractor assumed responsibility for maintenance of designated
special areas as set out in Exhibit A attached hereto, and
WHEREAS, Contractor has agreed to perform said landscape
services for an additional one year period for the sum of
$70,932, plus the sum of $1,489 for maintenance of the Lincoln
Street Median strip to be paid from the Island City Assessment
Fund No. 506;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the Mayor and City Clerk be, and each hereby is,
authorized to execute and to attest to, respectively on behalf
of the City, a one -year renewal of that certain agreement'
between the City and Cagwin & Dorward, P.W. 9 -81 =9, for landscape
maintenance services, modified to eliminate maintenance at
Godfrey Park and Leydecker Park and increase maintenance in
approximately thirty- four(34) special areas of the City, and
continuation of the Lincoln Avenue median strip.
