AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ALAMEDA
MAIN STREET PROJECT, INC. FOR FISCAL YEAR 1886-07
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community
Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the
Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended;
and
WHEREAS, the City's economic development policy calls
for programs and activities to stimulate and revitalize the
downtown and neighborhood commercial areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has programmed $42.I00 in
FY 1986-87 Community Block Grant Entitlement funds for
activities to eliminate conditions of slum and blight and to
increase employment opportunities for low- and
moderate-income persons; and
WHEREAS, said activities are eligible under Section
570.202 and 570.203 of the Community Development Block Grant
regulations;
WHEREAS, Urban Development Action Grant Loan Repayment
funds in the amount of $7'000 have been programmed for
promotional activities in the Park Street commercial
district; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Main Street Project, Inc. exists
to provide a wide range of activities leading to downtown
and neighborhood commercial revitalization; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Alameda that the City Manager be and hereby is
authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, on
behalf of the City, a Grant Agreement with the Alameda Main
Street Project, Inc. for fiscal year 1986-87.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 1st of July, 1986,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Corica, Lucas, Monsef and President Diament - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Hanna - 1.
