Resolution 11191CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11191 COMMENDING ANNE B. DIAMENT FOR HER YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA AS COUNCILMEMBER AND MAYOR TO ALL LET IT BE KNOW that for her record of active partici- pation in community affairs over many years, ANNE B. DIAMENT has earned the affection and admiration of this community; and WHEREAS, ANNE B. DIAMENT was first appointed to the Alameda City Council in 1975 and was elected to the Council in 1977 and again in 1981, before being elected Mayor in 1983; and WHEREAS, prior to her service on the Council, ANNE B. DIAMENT served with distinction as a member of the Alameda Hous- ing Authority from 1968-1975, spearheading the drive that result- ed in the construction of the Park/Otis Senior Housing; and WHEREAS, during her many years of service ANNE B. DIAMENT served as a member of the League of Women Voters, the Parent Teachers' AsSociation, the Alameda Girl Scout Council, the Alameda Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Alameda Boy Scout Council, the Alameda Women's Town Hall, the Alameda Service Agen cy Cooperative, the College of Alameda's Senior Council, and the Alameda Welfare Council; and WHEREAS, during her tenure as Mayor she initiated the City Volunteer Program, the Care for Alameda - Keep It Clean Program, the Senior Hoysing Task Force, the Transportation Systems Manage- ment Committee, the Community Improvement Committee, and the Alameda Salute to the Military programs; and WHEREAS, in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Mayor's office ANNE B. DIAMENT maintained the public's trust and honor in the office of Mayor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Alameda acknowledging the energy and resourcefulness of the City's first woman Mayor, does hereby congratulate her on her years of service to the community and and extends its deepest gratitude for her many hours on behalf of this community. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Alameda, City staff, and her friends and admirers throughout the community and the Bay Area extend to Anne their congratulations and best wishes for continued good health, success, and happiness. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th of May, 198/, by the folloWing vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Monsef, Thomas and Mayor Corica - 4.
