AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE EDEN
COUNCIL FOR HOPE AND OPPORTUNITY, INC. (E.C.D.O.) FOR REVERSE ANNUITY
MORTGAGE COUNSELING SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR 1987-88
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community Development
Block Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1874, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the City's Community Development Objectives call for
programs and activities to increase assistance to low- and
moderate-income elderly in the areas of bouoing, beultb, and finance;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has programmed $5,324 in Thirteenth
Year Community Block Grant Entitlement funds for activities to provide
assistance to low- and moderate-income elderly by enabling them to
convert home equity into monthly income payments, thereby enabling them
to continue liviog, independent and aolt-auffioi*ut' in their own homes;
and
WHEREAS, The Eden Council for Hope and Opportunity exists to
provide a wide range of mervioey, including reverse annuity mortgage
counseling services; and
WHEREAS, said activities are eligible under Section 570.201(*) of
the Community Development Block Grant regulations;
0OW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the City Manager be and hereby is authorized to eoeonto,
and the City Clerk to attent, on behalf of the City, a Grant Agreement
with the Eden Council for Hope and Opportunity, Inc. (E.C.8.0.) for
Reverse Annuity Mortgage Counseling Services for Fiscal Year 1987-88.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 16th of June, 1987,
