AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT WITH UNITED
FILIPINOS OF ALAMEDA FOR EMERGENCY SHELTER OPERATIONS FOR
FISCAL YEAR 1987-88
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community Development Block
Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1874, as amended; and
W828EAS, acquisition of a larger facility for the City's emergency
shelter for women and families has resulted in an increased need for
staff support and services at the shelter; and
N8EDGA8, it has been determined that the provision of emergeocy shelter
services is an eligible use of funds under Section 570.20I(o) of the
CDBG regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City has programmed $I5.600 in Thirteenth Year Community
Development Block Grant Entitlement funds (Grant funds) for the purpose
of providing emergency shelter services to homeless women and families
in the City; and
WHEREAS, United Filipinos of Alameda exists and is qualified to provide
such emergency shelter services;
NOW, T8EBEFOB8, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
that the City Manager be and hereby is authorized to eneouto, and the
City Clerk to mtteot, on behalf of the City, a Grant Agreement with
United Filipinos of Alameda for Emergency Shelter Operations for Fiscal
Year 1987-88.
