AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION TO THE SAN FRANCISCO
BAY CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION FOR BEACH
STABILIZATION AND BIRD SANCTUARY SOUTH OF BAYVIEW DRIVE
BETWEEN BROADWAY AND RAVENS COVE
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has been named as a party to Cease and
Desist Order No. CCD 3 -87, issued by the Bay Conservation and Development
Commission (BCDC) pursuant to the BCDC action on July 16, 1987; and
WHEREAS, one of the options in the Cease and Desist Order is to submit an
application to permit the 775 cubic yards of unauthorized fill at two locations on the
shoreline south of Bayview Drive between Broadway and Ravens Cove, on the condition
that the entire fill area is dedicated for use as public access and appropriate
improvements installed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Alameda on May 5, 1987
approved in concept a comprehensive approach to resolving the resource issues pertaining
to the shoreline area owned by the City and located between Broadway and Ravens Cove;
and
WHEREAS, the application submitted to the San Francisco Conservation and
Development Commission on July 15, 1987, and supplemented on July 29, 1987, embodies
the approach approved by the City Council on May 5, 1987.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the application submitted to the San Francisco Bay Conservation and
Development Commission on July 15, 1987, as supplemented on July 29, 1987, is approved
for submittal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda
commits to installing, or causing to have installed, all of the improvements proposed in
this application, within the time frame proposed in this application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda
commits to permanently maintaining, or causing to be maintained, in a safe, secure,
clean, healthy and timely manner, all of the improvements installed pursuant to this
application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Alameda,
or his delegated representative, is authorized to execute all documents pursuant to this
application, and to approve minor amendments to this application as may be required by
the Bay Conservation and Development Commission.

the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 15th of September, 1987,

ABSENT: None.
