AUTHORIZING FILING A REQUEST WITH THE ALAMEDA
COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR MEASURE B PARA-
TRANSIT FUNDS FOR THE PERIOD OF JANUARY 1 TO
JUNE 30, 1988
WHEREAS, at the meeting of April 7, 1987, the Council of
the City of Alameda authorized filing a claim with the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission for allocation of State
Transit Assistant Funds for 1987 -88; and
WHEREAS, funding was received in the amount of $76,293 to
provide paratransit services in Alameda; and
WHEREAS, in November 1986 the Alameda County voters
passed the Measure B Transportation Initiative; and
WHEREAS, a five -year plan for the use of Measure B
paratransit funds is being developed and upon completion will
provide information for future planning adjustments to the
existing paratransit program; and
WHEREAS, funds are now available to the cities currently
operating paratransit programs with State Transportation
Development Act 4.5 Funds to augment the existing program from
January to June 1988; and
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda is requesting $23,000 in
Measure B paratransit funds for the following use $18,000 will
be used to supplement the taxi script program and $5,000 for the
wheelchair accessible van service to the Senior Center and to
recreation programs for handicapped youth and adults; and
WHEREAS, approval of the funds will enable the City of
Alameda to continue the delivery of paratransit services
consistent with the past year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the Council hereby authorizes the submittal of a
request to the Alameda County Board of Supervisors for Measure
B paratransit funds for the period of January 1 to June 30, 1988.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 1st of December, 1987,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Haugner, Monsef, Thomas and
President Corica - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Camicia - 1.
