Resolution 11430RESOLUTION NO. 11430 SUPPORTING THE DECLARATION OF THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AND DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL, 1988, AS EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS MONTH IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA WHEREAS, the State of California continues to experience signifi- cant seismic activity, thus posing the threat of earthquakes; and WHEREAS, the loss of life and property can be greatly reduced if appropriate earthquake preparedness measures are taken before, during and after a damaging quake; and WHEREAS, it is imperative that all Alamedans learn and observe throughout the year earthquake preparedness measures in order to better protect lives and property; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda has prepared an earthquake prepared- ness brochure for distribution to all residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Alameda that April, 1988, is proclaimed Earthquake Preparedness Month; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council encourages all citizens % *z t.--k! to increase their knowledge and awareness of proper safety measures to follow before, during and after an earthquake. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th of April, 1988, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Thomas, Monsef, Camicia, Haugner and President Corica.
