Resolution 11439CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11439 AUTHORIZING OPEN MARKET PURCHASE OF FIVE POLICE VEHICLES FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, there are funds available in the Police Department budget to replace aging vehicles in the police fleet; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to replace four marked police patrol vehicles due to high mileage and frequency of repair; and WHEREAS, the State of California Department of General Services through their Cooperative Purchasing Program has contracted to provide Dodge Diplomat vehicles to local government; and WHEREAS, the Dodge, equipped to specifications, represents the best available vehicle for patrol work and is compatible with existing fleet and emergency equipment; and WHEREAS, it is also necessary to replace one undercover vehicle assigned to the Investigation Division with one currently assigned to the Chief of Police; and WHEREAS, one late model, low mileage, domestic sedan with high resale potential can be purchased to replace the Police Chief's vehicle through the existing police department agreement with Good Chevrolet. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3-15 of the City Charter the Police Department, in cooperation with the City Purchasing Agent, is hereby authorized to purchase four patrol vehicles through the State Department of General Services for $44,643.43 (including 7% sales tax) and one administrative vehicle through 17-Good Chevrolet for an estimated cost between $10,000 to $12,000 '',depending upon the market value of the vehicle purchased. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th of April, 1988, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Thomas, Monsef, Camicia, Haugner and President Corica.
