Resolution 11440RESOLUTION 11440 SUPPORTING ALAMEDA'S PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER WHEREAS, the Alameda Public Health Center provides health care services to the medically indigent residents of the City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, the Alameda Public Health Center currently provides Primary Care preventative health care and Family Planning services in a centrally located clinic during convenient weekday hours; and WHEREAS, the demand for services provided by the Alameda Public Health Center is on the increase by Alameda citizens; and WHEREAS, the size of the patient case load and utilization of the Public Health Center is sufficient to justify the creation of a separate budget; and WHEREAS, the County of Alameda's Health Care Services Agency proposes to cut physician hours at the Public Health Center, reduce services offered, allow mid-level practitioners to provide services without on-site direct physician supervision and actually cut back the number of days the Clinic is open each week; and WHEREAS, the City's Social Service Human Relations Board is opposed to the recent level of service reductions in the current operation of the Public Health Center and conversely believes an increase in services is necessary. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Alameda that it supports the current Family Planning Clinic and Primary Care services and hours of operation at the Alameda Public Health Center; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council encourages the County of Alameda's Health Care Services Agency to explore the creation of a separate budget for the operation of the Alameda ft,?
