Resolution 11453CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11453 SAFETY WEEK WHEREAS, traffic collisions are the fourth of deaths in California; and DESIGNATING MAY 22-28, 1988, AS CALIFORNIA TRAFFIC WHEREAS, at least 92 percent of all injury collisions are attributed to human error; and leading cause producing WHEREAS, many of these collisions and the resulting deaths and injuries could have been prevented; and WHEREAS, public and private institutions, along with concerned individuals, can promote traffic safety by increasing public awareness of safety measures; and WHEREAS, the State of California is observing May 22 through May 28, 1988, as California Traffic Safety Week; and WHEREAS, this observance should lead to greater safety on our streets and highways. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the City of Alameda joins with the Governor of the State of California, the Legislature, City and Town Councils, Mayors, and other citizens across the State in designating the week of May 22-28, 1988, as "California Traffic Safety Week" in supporting Statewide observances thereof and in reminding our fellow citizens that awareness, common sense, 0 courtesy and seat belts are our best defense against all the c -4:hazards of the roads. wl- c0 I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 19th of April, 1988, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Haugner, Monsef, Thomas and President Corica - 5.
