AWARDING CONTRACT TO TEL -PLUS COMMUNICATIONS,
INC. FOR A MUNICIPAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION THEREOF
WHEREAS, on August 4, 1987, the Council of the City of
Alameda authorized a request for proposals for the purchase of a
private branch exchange (PBX) to service both the City and the
Alameda Unified School District (AUSD); and
WHEREAS, due to both minor and major errors in all of
the bid proposals submitted said Council on January 5, 1988,
approved Resolution No 11372 rejecting all bid proposals and
calling for new bid proposals; and
WHEREAS, it was determined that there would be little, if
any, benefits in purchasing one PBX to serve both the City and
the AUSD; and
WHEREAS, on May 23, 1988, the AUSD notified the City that
they would proceed on their own to purchase their individual PBX;
and
WHEREAS, in response to said request for proposals a
sealed bid was submitted by Tel -Plus Communications, Inc. to
provide said system to the City for the sum of $267,478.67; and
WHEREAS, said firm is a responsible bidder and its
proposal has the best balance of system obsolescence protection,
architecture, reliability and functional features, adherence to
terms and conditions, service capabilities and performance,
total costs, including projected service and add on costs, and
local municipal government installations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that the bid of Tel -Plus Communications, Inc. is
hereby accepted, the contract for a Municipal Telecommunications
System is hereby awarded to said bidder, and the Mayor is hereby
authorized to execute, and the City Clerk to attest, said
contract on behalf of the City of Alameda.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 7th of June, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:

Councilmembers *Camicia, Haugner, Monsef, Thomas
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
