AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ALAMEDA MAIN STREET
PROJECT, INC. FOR COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION SERVICES FOR FISCAL YEAR
1988-89
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community Development Block
Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the City's economic development policy calls for programs and
activities to stimulate and revitalize the downtown and neighborhood
commercial areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, FY 1988-89 Urban Development Action Grant Loan Repayment funds
in the amount of $42,746 have been allocated to the Alameda Main Street
Project to carry out the four-point program of the Main Street Project;
and
WHEREAS, Urban Development Action Grant Loan Repayment funds in the
amount of $59,900 have been allocated to the Greater Alameda, Park
Street and West Alameda business districts to carry out promotions and
to obtain professional and clerical services, liability insurance,
education and training in support of commercial revitalization
activities; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda Main Street Project, Inc. exists to provide a wide
range of activities leading to downtown and neighborhood commercial
14 revitalization;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
that the Interim City Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute,
and the City Clerk to attest, on behalf of the City, a Grant Agreement
with the Alameda Main Street Project, Inc. for Fiscal Year 1988-89,

I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 16th of August, 1988,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Camicia, Monsef, Thomas and
President Corica - 4.
