Resolution 11575CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11575 AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY REPAIR OF SANITARY SEWER MAIN FROM CALHOUN AND COURT STREETS TO OTIS DRIVE, PURSUANT TO SECTION 3-15 OF THE CITY CHARTER, FUNDED BY THE SEWER SERVICE FUND WHEREAS, on September 30, 1988, the Public Works Department was advised that the sanitary sewer that runs through Krusi Park from Calhoun Street and Court Street to Otis Drive was blocked; and WHEREAS, a rodding machine was utilized to attempt to clear the line; and WHEREAS, after numerous obstructions were encountered, it was determined that the sewer line had collapsed and it was necessary to dig the line and determine the extent of the damage, and WHEREAS, upon digging the sewer line through Krusi Park, it was determined that the line was totally crushed and broken, the flow of sewage was passing through the ground in most areas rather than through a pipe, and there are several large voids about 10 feet under the ground which poses potential should they collapse; and WHEREAS, the cost of repair has been estimated at the cost of $16,860 and funds are available in the Sewer Service Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that pursuant to Section 3 -15 of the City Charter, the Public Works Director is hereby authorized to make such public work without contract in the open market. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the expenditure of $16,860 for the subject sewer repair is hereby authorized and approved with the project cost to be funded from the Sewer Service Fund.
