Resolution 11580CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11580 RECOMMENDING ENDORSEMENT OF REGIONAL MEASURE 1 ($1.00 BRIDGE TOLL) WHEREAS, traffic congestion is seen as a priority concern by both commuters and residents throughout the Bay Area; and WHEREAS, due to traffic being a dynamic medium, solutions, even at a local level, often require integration on a more regional level requiring local jurisdictions to pool their resources in order to solve the issues; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 45 which seeks to raise all seven Bay Area bridge tolls to $1.00 has been placed on the November ballot as Regional Measure 1 - "Bridge Toll Referendum"; and WHEREAS, the increased revenues will be used to fund bridge maintenance, bridge approach improvements, rail transit extensions, and special projects; and WHEREAS, residents of Alameda, as well as commuters to Alameda, will benefit from reduced congestion on the travelways around the Bay Area, resulting from the implementation of both bridge and rail transit improvements; and WHEREAS, the planned upgrades to the Grand Avenue bridge approaches will result in smoother traffic flow along 880 and rail transit improvements will off-load the freeway corridors adjacent to Alameda (880) as well as provide another means of access to these destinations by Alamedans; and WHEREAS, the City of Alameda may be able to obtain funding from the Special Projects provision for ferry services or bike facilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that said Council hereby endorses Regional Measure 1 ($1.00 Bridge Toll). I, the undersigned, hereby certify that-the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in adjourned regular meeting assembled on the 20th of October, 1988, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia and President Corica - 3.
