Resolution 11592CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11592 CALLING GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF ALAMEDA ON TUESDAY, MARCH 7, 1989; CONSOLIDATING SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ELECTION WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION; ESTABLISHING ELECTION PRECINCTS; FIXING NUMBER OF ELECTION OFFICERS ON THE BOARD OF ELECTION FOR PRECINCTS; FIXING COMPENSATION OF ELECTION OFFICERS AND DESIGNATING HOURS OF VOTING WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Alameda provides that a General Municipal Election shall be held in the City of Alameda on Tuesday, March 7, 1989; and WHEREAS, at said General Municipal Election, and pursuant to the provisions of the Charter of said City, officers are to be elected to fill the office of Councilmember for two full terms; the office of City Auditor for one full term; the office of City Treasurer for one full term; and the office of Member of the Board of Education for three full terms; and WHEREAS, the Alameda Unified School District has requested the consolidation of said district's Special Bond Election with the City's General Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, at said district election two general obligation bond measures are to be voted upon by the electorate. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that a General Municipal Election be, and is hereby, called and ordered to be held in said City of Alameda, State of California, on Tuesday, March 7, 1989, in accordance with the provisions of said Charter of the City of Alameda and the Elections Code of the State of California, for the purpose of electing the following named officers of the City for the terms specified: Two (2) Councilmembers on the Council of said City, each term commencing at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1989, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified. One (1) City Auditor of said City for one full term commencing at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1989, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified. -1- One (1) City Treasurer of said City for one full term commencing at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Tuesday in April, 1989, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified. Three (3) Members of the Board of Education of said City, each term commencing at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the fourth Tuesday in April, 1989, and continuing for four (4) years thereafter and until a successor is elected and qualified; and for the purpose of voting on any measures or propositions which may lawfully be submitted at said election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the election precincts within the City of Alameda, designated and numbered as the same were last heretofore defined, fixed, and established by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, as the election precincts within the City of Alameda for holding General State and County Elections be, and the same are hereby, fixed, designated, and established as the election precincts for holding the aforesaid General Municipal Election, and Alameda Unified School District Special Bond Election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Election for each election precinct at said General Municipal Election shall consist of a maximum of one Inspector, one Judge and two Clerks. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the compensation to be paid to each of the election officers for conducting said General Municipal Election be, and the same is hereby, fixed at the sum of Sixty-eight and 00/100 Dollars ($68.00) to the Inspectors, Fifty-four and 00/100 Dollars ($54.00) to the Judges and Forty-seven and 00/100 Dollars ($47.00) to the Clerks. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the polls at the polling places for said election shall be opened at 7:00 o'clock a.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until 8:00 o'clock p.m. (P.S.T.) of said day of election when the polls shall be closed, as provided in the California Elections Code, and the election officers shall thereupon proceed to process the ballots cast thereat, and the returns of said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and shall be by them deposited with the City Clerk, together with the ballots cast at said election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Council shall meet at its usual meeting place and canvass said returns on Tuesday, the 14th day of March, 1989, being the first Tuesday after said General Municipal Election, and declare the results of said General Municipal Election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to do and perform any and all acts required of her under the Charter of the City of Alameda and the laws of the State of California in respect to said General Municipal Election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said General Municipal Election called and ordered to be held, as aforesaid, shall be held and conducted, and the votes cast thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, and the result thereof ascertained, determined, and declared, as herein provided, and in all particulars not recited herein, in accordance with the Charter of said City of Alameda and the laws of the State of 4.4 4 California governing said General Municipal Election, * * * * * * 4.,r1 ) I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th of November, 1988, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Monsef, Thomas and President Corica - 5.
