Resolution 11598CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11598 AUTHORIZING THE EMERGENCY REPAIR OF PUMP AT BRIDGEWAY SANITARY SEWER PUMP STATION PURSUANT TO SECTION 3 -15 OF THE CITY CHARTER, FUNDED FROM THE SEWER SERVICE FUND WHEREAS, the Bridgeway Pump Plant, located at Bridgeway Road and Packet Landing Road, is the major pump plant for moving sanitary sewage from Bay Farm Island to the East Bay Municipal Utility District operated pump station at Krusi Park; and WHEREAS, on October 24, 1988, the Public Works Department was advised that there was 3 to 4 feet of sewage on the pump floor of the Bridgeway Pump Plant; and WHEREAS, investigations determined that one of the two 50 -HP pumps had been substantially broken; and WHEREAS, since these pumps alternate every other pumping operation, every time the broken pump tried to work, the majority of the sewage flowed onto the floor; and WHEREAS, since the operation of this pump plant is of major importance and since it was not reasonable to allow this plant to operate with only one pump, which was known to be of questionable condition, it was necessary to make an immediate emergency repair or replacement of the broken pump; and WHEREAS, it was determined that PACO Pumps of Oakland, the major supplier of pumps for Alameda's pump plants, could repair the existing pump at a cost of $8,904.91 and funds are available in the Sewer Service Fund.
