APPROVING APPLICATION FOR ONE-TIME GRANT FUNDS
FOR CHILD CARE COORDINATION SERVICES FROM THE
STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
WHEREAS, the State Department of Education has made
available to cities and counties one-time grant funds for
planning and coordination of activities within local governments
to facilitate the availability of child care services during
1989, and
WHEREAS, said project would provide a trained child care
professional on a contract basis for a nine-month period in 1989,
working approximately 30 hours per week; and
WHEREAS, the scope of services provided may include the
following: supervise tabulation and results of surveys;
coordinate the McKinley Child Care Project, maintain linkage
with local child care providers, community-based organizations
and institutions involved in child care, evaluate the Recreation
Department's child care/recreational holiday and summer camps,
evaluate the after-school playground program; develop City
employees' awareness and use, and work with the Homeless Task
Force to develop and implement a care system for children of
emergency shelter clients and homeless families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Alameda that said Council hereby authorizes submittal of a
grant application to the State Department of Education in the
amount of $25,000 for child Care Coordination Services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the applicant agrees to
provide matching funds required for said project (to be offset by
in-kind services for office space, supervision and volunteer
services), and that cash will be appropriated as required
thereby.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 17th of January, 1989,,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Monsef and
Acting President Thomas - 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Mayor Corica - 1.
