AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH
THE ALAMEDA MAIN STREET PROJECT
FOR COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION SERVICES
IN FISCAL YEAR 1989 -90
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community Development Block
Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the City's economic development policy calls for programs and
activities to stimulate and revitalize the downtown and neighborhood
commercial areas of the City; and
WHEREAS, FY 1989 -90 Commercial Revitalization funds in the amount of
$53,252 have been allocated to the Alameda Main Street Project to carry
out the four -point program of the Main Street Project; and
WHEREAS, Commercial Revitalization funds in the amount of $16,000 have
been allocated to the Greater Alameda Business Association to carry out
promotions and to obtain professional and clerical services, liability
insurance, education and training in support of commercial
revitalization activities; and
WHEREAS, the Park Street and Webster Street Business Associations will
utilize Business Improvement Area funds, administered under a separate
agreement with the City, for similar activities; and
WHEREAS, the Subgrantee is uniquely suited to provide a wide range of
administrative, technical and professional assistance activities leading
to the revitalization of Alameda's historic downtowns and neighborhood
commercial districts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
that the City Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, and the
City Clerk to attest, on behalf of the City, a Grant Agreement with the
Alameda Main Street Project, Inc. for Fiscal Year 1989 -90.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 5th of July, 1989,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Thomas, Withrow
and President Corica 5,

ABSENT: None,
