AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF GRANT AGREEMENT WITH
EDEN COUNCIL FOR HOPE AND OPPORTUNITY (ECHO HOUSING)
FOR RENT GUARANTEE PROGRAM
IN FISCAL YEAR 1989 -90
WHEREAS, the City is a participant in the Community Development
Block Grant Program (CDBG) authorized under the Housing and Community
Development Act of 1974, as amended; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to expand housing resources through the
provision of services to low- and moderate - income individuals and
families to prevent or eliminate homelessness; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the provision of housing
services is an eligible use of funds under Section 570.201 (e) of the
CDBG regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City has programmed $9,500 in FY 1989 -90 CDBG funds
for the purpose of providing such services to low- and moderate - income
individuals and families in Alameda who are experiencing temporary
financial difficulties paying rent or who have insufficient resources to
pay rental deposits; and
WHEREAS, the Subgrantee represents that it is qualified to provide
said services;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Alameda that the City Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute,
and the City Clerk to attest, on behalf of the City, an agreement with
ECHO Housing for a Rent Guarantee Program for Fiscal Year 1989 -90.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing
Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by
the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 5th of July, 1989,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Thomas, Withrow
and President Corica - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
