Resolution 11810CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 11810 AUTHORIZING APPROPRIATION OF $108,600 FROM THE DWELLING UNIT TAX FUND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE PORTOLA TRIANGLE DEMONSTRATION GARDEN WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department and East Bay Municipal Utility District have been working together preparing a plan for development of the Portola Triangle as a demonstration garden featuring California native and drought tolerant plant species and a water conservation irrigation system; and WHEREAS, plans and specifications for construction of Portola Triangle Demonstration Garden, P.W. No. 7- 89 -11, were prepared by the City of Alameda Engineering Division which incorporates irrigation plans prepared by Russell D. Mitchell & Associates, Inc.; and WHEREAS, once this project which includes grading work and installation of hardscape and irrigation work is competed, planting will be installed under separate contract at a cost of approximately $24,000; and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Alameda on August 1, 1989, determined that said project would be financed from the Dwelling Unit Tax Fund and on August 15, 1989, authorized negotiations on the open market; and WHEREAS, bids for the construction work have been received with White Oak Landscape, Inc. agreeing to perform said work for the sum of $116,830.68; and WHEREAS, said firm is a responsible bidder and its proposal is the lowest and best bid received; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that funds in the amount of $108,600 are hereby appropriated from the Dwelling Unit Tax Fund for construction of the Portola Triangle Demonstration Garden. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th of September, 1989, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Thomas, Withrow and President Corica - 5.
